We sincerely thank you for your service.
My Father passed away in hospice yesterday.
To live in hearts we leave behind
Is not to die.

Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation. For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life. ~Albert Einstein
Hi Guys, Happy full on Spring from The Mitten!!!!! Finally!
Thanks for joining us, if you would like to join us, click on the button below to head over to Joyce’s and link up.
1. When is your next big deadline? What’s it for?
No big deadlines that I can think of, but a few little ones. We have to be in Chicago on Saturday afternoon for The Dane’s graduation from Moody! I need to get the grass cut before we leave, that IS a deadline or else we might have to get a bush hog out here to mow our fields! Spring showers and all!
2. May is National Barbecue Month. Do you prefer cooking indoors or out? What’s the best thing about a barbecue? What’s the last thing you cooked on an outdoor grill?
I can use the BBQ, but it’s usually Honey’s domain. The best thing is, of course, the taste, The other best thing about a BBQ would be that it’s a fun gathering! I think the last thing I cooked was probably chicken. It would have been last summer.3. What is one thing on your “never again” list?
Hmmmm, that could be a very long list. Here is one for you.
The teacup ride at Disney World, or any other kind of spinny ride.
4. What’s something that annoys you about people your own age? Something you love about your generation?
This is a hard question. I don’t usually think of myself in this sort of grouping. I am going to have to pass, nothing is coming to mind.
5. Lilac, iris, hyacinth, pansy…your favorite purple flower?
I can’t answer this!!!! I have great love in my heart for ALL of them!
WE were just talking about our love for lilacs last night on the way to Birthday Club, so I will say that.
And I do love a sweet pansy. Ok, done.
6. What’s a song that always calms you down?
You Never Let Go by Matt Redmon is very helpful.
And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me
And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth
Or Jesus Loves Me. That’s an oldie but a goodie.
7. What’s the last thing you donated?
The church where we have BSF has a clothing closet, where they accept clothing for the needy in the community around them. We have donated many times to this and always have an open bag in our closets for when we come across something that no longer meets a need. I have asked them on a couple different occasions if they accept other things besides clothing, and the answer has been yes, such as bedding and baby gear.
While walking with Keelyody last week we noticed two bikes in the trash, both for little kids, one still had training wheels on it. Both were in GREAT shape, as far as I could tell. The tires needed a little air, but not flat and not at all in rough shape. We were horrified that people would just throw these bikes in the trash! Just take them to the Salvation Army for goodness sake!
After our walk I called Carolyn, the church secretary, to see if they would take them for their community closet. I waited about half a minute and then picked them up anyway because if she couldn’t take them, I was going to take them over to The Army myself. She said they would take them! I dropped them off on our last leaders day.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Here is the Way Back When-sday part of the post. I found this quality shot while I was looking for pictures for my Mothers Day post. The scene is set at Honey’s parents home, that is his Mother sitting in the chair surrounded by sister in law Rachel on the left, me in the middle and Honey’s Older Sister, whose real name is Linda, on the left.
I have a question and a couple observations about this photo.
We are all dressed up, where were we going? The date on the back says August 1985. Any ideas Sisters??
Here are my observations:
Once again, God has a sense of humor. Here I am, standing with very short women. And I was probably already standing with my hip cocked to appear shorter.
RACHEL!!!!!!! You are wearing HIGH HEELS!!!!!!! I can’t remember when I last saw that!!!
Love you Ladies!
Have a springy week!
Hi Guys! Hope you had a loverly weekend, I know I did!
Spent some quality time with my people, TWO yummy dinners, dessert, and a phone call from The Boy, what’s not to love?
Love is exactly the word for The Ab-Cat’s card! This is what Sy does when he is making biscuits on my belly, except his head is on my chest. He has deep seated issues. Deep seated mommy issues.
The hyacinth bean plants have sprouted!!! Only about 10 out of 50 something, but hey, there are more seeds where those came from. I put them outside in the sun the other day and they all the sudden stretched and greeted the world. That God, He is a wonderful Maker!
Hoping to transplant them soon so they can GROW, Baby, GROW!
This is Mousey’s friend The Usher. They have been “talking” for about a month now. They met at church, where he, you know, ushers. They are both glad classes are over for the semester. He is a busy landscaper for the summer, making as he calls it, dat green paper.
I went to church with The Girls at their new church last Sunday because I didn’t feel like sitting solo at our church on Mothers Day. While there I ran into some BSF friends. Heifer Lynn and Dear Sandra and her husband Bill, who totally takes credit for getting Mousey and The Usher “talking”.
Thanks Bill, because of your intervention we now have this Patriots fan hanging around. He is a good fit because he also enjoys laughing, eating, ice cream, and sitting around and visiting. He says he doesn’t like movies but we are going to try and fix that over the summer.
There you go Ush, you’re on the blob!!!!!
I puttered in the yard yesterday after the morning walk with Keelyody. Did some weeding, removed more dead stuff (another hard winter is whittling away life over here), and contemplated some changes. Changes involving lilacs, peonies and possibly some knockout roses, along with removal of some things I am not loving. Those changes require Honey’s assistance so I don’t know if they will be happening this summer or not. I have a feeling that the bulk of Honey’s energy is going to be focused on the decks. Because those decks? ARE A DISASTER!
I think I will be ready to go to the favorite flower store with Jip the Farm Dog next week. What say you Jip? The thought of coleus, zinnia and lantana is dancing in my head!
We have been having buckets of rain lately. Every thing is squishy and muddy gush out there. Sy is not a fan of the heavy downpour. REALLY not liking all the nature.
Ok, I must git. Hoping my walking shoes have dried out from yesterdays puttering.
Have a dry day.
