A New Pace

Thank you so much for your prayers, they availeth much!

The Grandpa went to have a cat scan on Wednesday morning and it went fine until it was time to leave. He noticed some hives on his upper lip so he turned around and went right back in to ask if that was ok. They said he was probably having a reaction to the contrast dye. They took his blood pressure to find it was 230 over 180, and even more alarming, his heart rate was 28. They sent him right on over to University of Michigan Hospital in an ambulance!

He hung out in the emergency room for a while and they tried different things to bring the blood pressure down and get the heart rate up. Throughout the day his blood pressure straightened up but the stubborn heart rate remained low. They transferred him up to the 7th floor cardiac unit to await a pacemaker to help circumvent his three beats on top to one on the bottom heartbeat.

He was in good spirits throughout, said he had no pain and figured that maybe this was why he had been feeling so tired. Once they brought him some scrub pants he endured confinement and happily whiled away his time with visitors and phone calls. Pants make a big difference in your comfort level and dignity!

He had the procedure this morning and was awake and joking before 3 hours had passed! He was ever so glad to have a visit from his best friend Mrs. H.

Just a few hours later he was back in his room, feeling good and anxiously awaiting his lunch!

I think he is going to have a hard time laying low for the next 6-8 weeks.

The doctor thinks he has been unknowingly struggling with this for some time and the allergic reaction was a total God thing, causing the doctor to see that there was a problem. His cardiologist said he could have just fallen asleep and never woken up, so we are very thankful for the intervention.

Thank you so much for your prayers, he will probably be back to his usual Energizer Bunny ways in no time!

Thank you Lord!

Prayers for The Grandpa

We would appreciate prayers for The Grandpa, he had quite a day yesterday. He is currently at University of Michigan Hospital awaiting a pacemaker. If they have a cancellation he will get it today, if not on Friday. He is feeling well and in good spirits. More later. Thank you so much for taking him to our Great Physician!

Way Back When-sday Hodgepodge

Hi Guys!!!! I feel like I have been gone forever, it’s good to be back! If you would like to join us click on the button below to head over to Joyce’s

1. Are you comfortable with silence? If you’re home alone, do you like silence or do you need regular background noise? Do you seek out times and places to be silent? What’s your favorite place to find silence/be silent?

I am very comfortable with silence. I rarely turn on the tv during the day, and never listen to music except occasionally in the car. I even turn the sound off on the iPad so I don’t hear all the sounds when playing games. I don’t seek out the silence, it’s just there. So I embrace it! I guess my favorite place would be the family room. It’s comfy.

2. October 28th is National Chocolate Day. Can’t let that go by without a mention now, can we? Will you celebrate? How? Let’s say you can have one of the following right this very minute… a cup of hot chocolate, a strawberry dipped in chocolate, a bowl of plain chocolate ice cream, or a slice of chocolate pie…what’s your pleasure?

Well, I am going to lunch with my Uncle Bob and Aunt Phyllis to a place where they like to go and they have a DELICIOUS dark chocolate mousse there! Maybe I will have to mention to my dining partners that it is National Chocolate Day!

Hmmm, maybe the chocolate pie.

3. How do you feel about blue jeans? Favorite thing in the world to wear or nope, don’t own a single pair? How often do you wear blue jeans in a typical week? Do you own a blue jean jacket?

I feel a great affection for blue jeans! How I wear them has changed in recent years though. I used to wear typical blue jeans until about 2 years ago. After I had a little surgical procedure, I have been reluctant to have anything tight around my waist, PLUS, I like a flat front for most of the longer tops I wear.. I now wear jeggings about 4 times a week so I don’t have to face the dreaded zipper around my waist OR the button making my shirt poof out!

I do have a jean jacket that I sometimes wear with skirts. I don’t wear a jean jacket with jeans though, it feels too matchy matchy.
4. Are you superstitious? If so, in what way?

Not particularly, but I might not walk under a ladder intentionally!
5. If you had to come up with a costume using only things you have on hand right now, what could you come up with?

This sounds like every Halloween when the kids were little! It started out with something we had and then we might have to purchase something to complete it.

I could be a hairdresser, HA!!!! I could borrow Mousey’s kitty ears, find some black clothes and be a kitty cat. We have a hat down the basement with dreadlocks attached. Hey Mon! I could wear Honey’s coveralls and be a Ford Motor Co. employee!
6. What scares you a little? What do you do when you feel scared?

Sharks, snakes and alligators. Velociraptors. Accidents on the freeway. When scared I try and remember Bible verses or sing Jesus Loves Me. The name of Jesus is a strong tower.
7. Perhaps today will be the day I ______________________________.

Get back into the swing of blogging! I have completely fallen off the wagon.
8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Here is the Way Back When-sday part of the post.

This picture is a good example of using what you have to make a Halloween costume!

The Boy, on the left, lucked out that year. His military outfit was bought, I think the hat might have been borrowed from my brother Beeve. Mousey is all decked out in her brother’s cowboy fringed vest that The Boy’s Grandpa made for him one Christmas about 5 years previously, plus his flannel shirt, cowboy boots and gun holster. The bandana and cowboy hat were my Mom’s, she must have had them kicking around from some hoe down/rodeo themed party she attended. The Ab-Cat, on the right, is featured wearing an old blouse of mine from the 80s, an old T-Bird pin and scarf hair tie (ala Madonna!) from the same decade. She got the cat eye glasses at her friend Awesome Autumn’s birthday party. Her own white tennis shoes completed her 50s girl look.

There they are with their best friends, The alien Hostler Girls, looking all cutey cute!

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your week!

A Day With Capri’s Patt and Deb!

Capri Patt asked if Capri Deb and I wanted to go with her to a cute little place so she could spend her $20 in birthday coopins. It doesn’t take much to twist our tails to get together, so off we went!

It used to be a skating rink and it still has skates all around the perimeter, adding to the quirk factor!

They have lots of what you might be looking for,

along with much you might never need.

Furniture, accessories. This called to me, as you can imagine!.IMG_0684

artistic recycling,

jewelry and clothing,

much scarfage,

Michigan stuff,

and yet more Michigan stuff.

Art. I sent this to The Ab-Cat. She is a Beatlemaniac. Really spellcheck? How can that NOT be a word?

Sent this to The Boy.

Sent these sparkling beauties to Mouse Ann. Who doesn’t need an anatomy shirt and plates? Anatomy is her jam.

This was kind of our family song. I miss our Furlings.

Everyone needs this.

Sent this to Mrs. Schmenkman. Wouldn’t it be an awesome work table?? Deb and i wouldn’t turn it down!

Ummm, maybe not so awesome. Yikes.

It’s coming. Fast.

My company for the day!

It looked like Capri Patt was going to take her birthday coopins home for another year when at the very last second she found something she needed!!! A boot jack to take to her summer home in Florida!!! She has one here and loves it!

Capri Deb found a darling pumpkin for the decorating she does to impress her grandchildren. She likes to have lots of cute little things scattered hither and yon for them to find, and she said she had the perfect spot for this.

It was a fun day and the company was the best part!

A List and The Weekly Sy

Hi Y’All. It was not my intention to have a blob break but I guess that is what I did. I was just texting Heifer Lynn this morning and she asked about it. I responded that i have yet to get into the swing of things since my life picked up this fall. I usually post in the morning and if I don’t get my act together to write ahead of time, no post magically appears.

If I am being honest, I was also in a bit of a funk. My usual October funk. This year was the 20th marking of the day of the car accident that resulted in Abby’s spinal cord injury. I don’t discount that I will talk about it in the future but I couldn’t get my thoughts gathered the way I wanted to. I had an entire post written that I deleted because it came off as… not what I was trying to say. Maybe another time.

It was a beautimous fall week for walking up here in The Mitten!!!!! GLORIOUS! Keelyody and I just kept pointing and saying “look at that one!”.

Speaking of outdoors, Honey, Mousey and I got a massive jump start on the outside work last Thursday before we headed down to Iowa! Mousey and I emptied all of the pots, moved them to their winter homes, took all the moveable stuff to the shed, cut back the day lillies and hauled MONSTROUSLY heavy loads of plant life in varying shades of life or death back to the field.

I felt a little like the Ingalls family preparing for winter. Without the urgent need to chop tons of firewood so we wouldn’t freeze to death, or gather all of the food we would need to have for the coming winter or else we would DIE of starvation. But you know, sorta kinda.

Except for cutting the grass today and the ONE LEAF RAKING a year we give Honey as an act of love, I should be done out there!!!! Hallelujah and thank you Lord!

I have a confession to make. I did something I don’t think I have ever done before. I put some groceries from Sam’s in the keep cold bag and I forgot about them!!!!!  I discovered them a few days later and was mortified! A package of salami, a container of fresh mushrooms and a pint of half and half. I may as well have lit $20 on fire and watched it burn. I guess it could have been worse. It can always be worse.

I GOT MY HAIRS CUT!!!!!!! Always a welcome thing. Does my top look familiar Schmenky?

I have a new favorite nail polish color. Got the Blues For Red from OPI. Not my hand below.

Mousey boarded a Greyhound to Chicago for the weekend. She is spending time with The Boy and The Dane, evidently shopping and drinking coffee. I snagged this off of her instagram.

I was texting her last night and sent her this picture of her cat, Lucy, looking like a complete CRAB. As she does. Goiter kitty. Her heart is full of hate.

I then moved on to Sy who is getting cuddlier as the weather grows colder. So I guess he is just a blanket groupie..

IMG_0768 (1)

He slept between me and The Ab-Cat all night long on a down throw while I watched HGTV and saw people buying log houses, with fire places, where he would have been coozied up like a heat seeking missile.

And then he got spicy and tried to bite my feet as they were trying to warm themselves beneath him. Some people!

If he was the Boss of the World he would be The Heat Miser. From The Year Without A Santa Claus? I bet there is thunderous silence on that reference! It’s not a huge favorite like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer or Santa Claus is Coming to Town, which were pure deliciousness in my book.

The Heat Miser.

His brother The Snow Miser.

Fabulous, I know.

Trying to jog your memory here.

Anyway, if The Snow Miser was in charge, Sy would be ok as long as he had his people and fluffy blankets around. We like him better this way too, he is WAY more loving.

Have a good weekend!
