Haven’t had a Pinterest post in a month of Sundays!

I have no where to make a path to, but if I did.

I think I could copy this, already have a similar pot!

How cute is that? Covers all the required areas, looks cool in warm weather. I’m on board.

You can see where my mind is lately. We are longing for spring up here in The Mitten. It was nice and sunny but mucho lacking in actual warmth. They say we may see 70s this weekend. Please Lord, make it so!

First List of September

Hi Guys, feeling listy today.

Honey is off for the long weekend. In celebration he brought home a box of sin. Those apple fritters. Mmm, Mmm, Mmm.

Another way of looking at it is bribery for all of the work he is going to require of us on his long, off weekend. The garage is calling. Loudly.

We had the pool closed on Tuesday. Of course this has been one of the hottest weeks of the summer, after a couple of the coolest weeks of the summer. It figures.

Can I tell you how much I am loving having an iPhone????? I am! And because I was mostly proficient at using the iPad, it was an easy peasy start up.

Honey downloaded Windows 10 to the computer we got last Christmas. Thank you people at Windows, that 8 was just an abomination. I already can use this one better in ONE day than I could the other after 8 months! I realize that is really more of a stinging indictment of my skills than Windows but THERE, I said it.

I have been considering getting a new pair of walking shoes all summer. The reason being, my feet have been paining me. Whether this is because my shoes have broken down and require replacing, or my feet are old and complaining, I do not know. The reason I have not gotten past the considering part is, have you seen the shoes out there lately?

Good GRIEF they are LOUD and SCARY!!!!!!

And they “don’t go” with my walking clothes,

I remember thinking my last pair were a little wild when purchasing them! That pop of pink was almost a little too much. BAH!!!

I have bought several pairs only to return them. Hence I have decided to wait until next season and hopefully things will have calmed down by then.

I received an update on Nurse Lauren from her Mama Rae-Babe!

I am nothing if not a proud mama!! It is beyond fantastic to see your children follow the Lord’s plan for their lives. As I told her, “God has been so faithful, we all feel the prayers of friends and they have helped make this transition more than bearable. It is NOT gut wrenching like we thought — we miss you terribly but there is such a peace in the knowledge that you are where the Lord wants you.”

Thanks for rooting through all your pictures to find these gems — some I don’t think that I’ve ever seen before — they brought back so many memories. 🙂

UPDATE: I’ve been emailing with her today and she is doing very well. She’s making friends and actually found a few that were Potterheads (Harry Potter uber fans) like herself!! That’s such an answer to prayer!! They will start surgeries on the 7th and they will be hopping after that time.

Thanks again for this post and for continuing to love on our girl! ❤

There is also a new blob post about Nurse Lauren’s trip over to Madagascar at Hope The Anchor of My Soul

Mission work is always exciting to read about but when you actually know the person? WAY more exciting!!!!

Have I mentioned that the natural path doctor asked me to not have sugar? When I asked her for how long she said “is this a problem for you?” Well, yes it is if you mean FOREVER. She asked if I could agree to one indulgence a week. I said I could do that, and I mostly have.

Once upon a time I lived that no sugar life. But then I fell of the wagon and never totally got back on. I know that it is best to avoid sugars, but I am also aware that I am not going to NEVER have sugar again in my life. So I look for ways to have dessert legally, because I always knew I would never be able to stick to any lifestyle plan if I couldn’t figure out a way to get some dessert in there.

The natural doctor does not seem to have a problem with small amounts of honey and pure maple syrup, but the low carber in me still looks at those two as contraband substances. The doctor has extreme problems with artificial sweeteners, but she seems to be ok  with Truvia. So Truvia is my new best friend. Made with eurythritol and stevia, it is not quite as good tasting as Splenda, but FAR superior to plain stevia. Also known as nasty crap. Nasty crap with a bitter aftertaste.

I made this CreamyLow Carb Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge last night because I was in need. It was SO good!!!!! Even The Ab-Cat ate it and approved, and the kids NEVER like low carb desserts!!!!

I will say that mine did not look like the picture BUT Jimmy cracked corn and I DON’T CARE. It will certainly meet my chocolate and sweet needs and if you get a good quality peanut butter with no sugar added, completely legal! Cause you know we low carbers don’t care about no stinkin’ fat content!

Thank you Pinterest!!!!! And Tatertots and Jello, of course!

I posted this picture on Instagram for Way Back When-sday.

How much do I miss those little furlings?

Will most likely be back tomorrow with a little Sy, the cutest little thug you ever did see.

Have a swell Friday!

Parmesan zucchini chips, must try.

I have several bookcases where this would be a welcome addition. Perhaps not the squid fabric though.

Clever! Bury it in your yard.

I like.

This goes along with our lesson this week in Deuteronomy 31 and 32. Very sad truth.

Choose wisely my friends.

I am willing to try smores cake. I know, really going out on a limb.

Congratulations Tigers!!!! 4-0 victory over the Minnesota Twins was a nice Opening Day!

Sad truth.

We are professionals around here. Glad it has a name.

Someone is clever.

How fun would this be?!

I worry about some generations.

Have a good Thursday.

This is pathetically true. What will become of me?

I think I found my front porch pots .Love Lantana, love sweet potato vine, love Million Bells, it’s all good!

How cute is that?

Pretty sure I mentioned that this is one of my favorite tv shows. Tuesday at 10 on HGTV.

A perfect pie chart for why we run up the stairs. Can’t you just remember those days?

Sincere want, can’t wait to give it a whirl this summer!

We have decided that we are banana pudding devotees. It’s gonna happen soon.

Get pinning.

I did a bit of reading on vacation.  I have been following the Big Mama blog since about 2008. Love her and her sense of humor. I have also read her first book Sparkly Green Earrings, loved that too.

I have been reading BooMama’s blog for just as long. Anyone with a little southern heritage will love this gal.

And that’s about it!!!

I think I want to try this. Seashells always look nicer when wet.

I don’t know if this works but I am sure going to try it!

Getting a haircut on Monday night. I need a change. Plus, all the coloring has left my hair feeling a little couchy. Maybe something like this?

Have a good Thursday.

Thank you LORD! As BooMama would say “a hand clap of praise”!

I think I even have the white bowl for this. Are succulents poisonous to the kitty witties?

How clever is this? Looks refreshing, file for future reference when we will need to be refreshed.

I would love, love, love to have three of these little paw prints!

Truth. Tigers in the tummy.

Have a fine day.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hi Guys, thanks for stopping by! If you have a hankering to link up with us, head over to Joyce’s by clicking on the button below. She is a loverly gal and would welcome you with open arms!

1. What’s the first image that comes to mind when you hear the word ‘spring’? Which phrase best describes the season of spring where you live right now (today)-sprung! almost there, or still waiting?

Spring brings to mind buds and blossoms, fresh and colorful, and a welcome release from all of the sweaters, hoodies, fleece, coats, scarves and gloves! Michiganders tend to look like the Michelin Man in winter, bundled within an inch of our lives.

The Mitten has actually been decent this week! Temperatures as high as the low 50s, which was delicious!  Unfortunately, I have lived here for the majority of my life and a 50 degree day in March means absolutely NOTHING. It could be –20 below ZERO in 24 hours. Last year we had full on winter through April. I am going to say a solid still waiting.

2. Bed, couch, stapler, garage door, computer mouse, recliner, flashlight, door knob…which household item containing springs most needs replacing in your home? Speaking of springs…did you ever own a Slinky?

I cannot think of a doggone thing that fits into this category! Wait, if a computer mouse has a spring does a television clicker? Our clicker is trying to quit us.

I think everyone in my generation had a Slinky, even if they were nothing more than a tangled, messed up twist of wire thrown in the toy box.

3. March is Women’s History Month. Share a favorite quote by a woman.

I love quotes. On my Pinterest wall the WORDS board has the most pins. A good quote can sometimes slice through all the junk to the heart of the matter, or conk you on the head with truth in a way you never considered. If you know me, you understand that I can never narrow anything down to one or “favorite”,. I thank you for humoring me. Here are a few that I love, in no particular order and I’m sure there are others that I love more but didn’t think of.IMG_1694

You know who has some good quotes? Joyce Meyer has some flat out good, practical advice.

4. What’s a question that looms large in your mind right now?

I feel a little in limbo right now. There are big changes coming and a lot of variables to consider. Honey is coming up on retirement, the kids are growing up, and we are wading into uncharted waters. Oh, we have talked about “some day…” but sometimes plans are like nailing jello to a wall. It has been our experience that making too many set in stone plans is not wise. I guess we will continue to pray for what the Lord has in store for us. He has steered our plane before and will do so again.

So the question that looms is “where will we land?”
5. Are you a sugar freak? By that I mean how much do you love sugar? With all the bad press sugar gets these days, have you made any efforts to reduce the amount of sugar you consume?

I do love a good dessert!! BUT, I have to say that I feel better when sugar is a treat rather than a daily indulgence. I have tried to follow a low carb lifestyle for over a decade with varying degrees of commitment and success. I do think that sugar can be a problem in our diets and I am at a loss as to why it is added into nearly everything. I think maybe people consume WAY too much because we have lost the desire to monitor ourselves when something is so readily available.

When I was growing up, many of the things we consume now on a daily, hourly, basis were considered a treat. I knew of no one who had daily access to pop, candy, and all manner of yummy baked goods. Those kind of things were reserved for Friday nights or birthday parties and holidays, special occasions. Everything is everywhere, and we don’t seem to be able to deny ourselves. AT ALL.

So for me, the best option was to severely curtail the sugar intake.

Funny this question came up today. My Aunt Phyllis asked if Honey and I wanted to join her, my uncle and several others in a 10 day sugar challenge that included artificial sweeteners. I said I would do it except for my morning sugar free chai that includes Splenda.

Mama needs her chai. So far, so good 🙂
6. Would you rather have less work to do or more work you enjoy doing?

I feel I am fortunate on this front. I am not overworked, and I enjoy what I do. I’m good, thanks.
7. Ever been to Texas? Of the top ten Texas tourist attractions which would you most like to see-The Alamo, The San Antonio River Walk, The State Capital, Dallas World Aquarium, Padre Island National Seashore, Houston Space Center, Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels, Six Flags Fiesta Texas,  Moody Gardens, or Galveston Island?

I have been to Texas exactly once in my life. About 10 years ago a group of gals went down to San Antonio. We visited BSF Headquarters to volunteer.  We worked in the press and served in their dining room. It was a fun trip and I was so glad I went!

We had very limited time but we did go to The Alamo and visited the River Walk. I would be more than happy to visit any of the other places!
8.  Insert your own random thought here.

We were talking about spring a few questions ago and I said that last year we barely had a spring. But to prove that The Mitten can perform, on occasion, I went back to the end of March in 2012, it was GLORIOUS!!!!!

Please Lord, make it so again!!!!!!!

Should be required reading in all schools. Number 1 because it’s so good, and number 2 because after reading it we should NEVER EVER complain about our winter again. #everythingineedtoknowilearnedfromtheingalls #mouseywouldhavedied

I sent this to Mrs. Schmenkman earlier this week because she has oodles of kitties. I then realized that this applies to me as well. #perspective #felinepride

The only kind I am interested in seeing. #mynearfuture

This looks SO yummy. Supposed to be dieting over here. #lovetheoneyourewith

Have a pin-worthy day!

I think I could copy this. In a way. Sort of.

So cute for grandbeebees!

Chocolate peanut butter cup overload cake. Yes please. I think Honey would want this all to himself!

I love this salad but have never in my life made it. Why? WHY? I am going to make it for lunch someday.

Unsalted is good. Beach living without all that nasty hurricane business.

Her mother would be proud.

Have a good Thursday!
